The bench on which Nelson Mandela wrote a majority of his autobiography "Long Walk to Freedom" during his 27 year imprisonment. Seated on this bench, under this tree, he wrote essays, letters, and books supporting the upheaval of apartheid. The written contraband was hidden in holes in the garden and then snuck out through the kitchen.
